NYFW Roundup

I got home late last night from an amazing few days in New York. I attended the IFB Conference was interesting and allowed me to meet really great people, and I attended some gorgeous shows at Lincoln Center.

It was amazing to view the shows in person and to be able to see firsthand what fall is going to look like; the overarching trends that I identified were hats of all kinds (beanies at BCBG, baseball caps at Herve Leger, and 70's ish hats at Trina Turk), fur (faux or real), jewel tones, updated pantsuits, and tons of prints and patterns.

I did a roundup of my favorite runway looks from the shows that I attended (from style.com), along with a (generally blurry, sorry!) photo that I took myself:

Noon by Noor:
Noon by Noor's collection was totally wearable and just simply beautiful. There were tons of floaty, feminine dresses, lots of red and black, luxe silky tartan patterns, and lots of accessorizing with beanies (or toques as we call them in Canada).

Check out the rest of the collection here.

BCBG:
The BCBG presentation featured easy dresses that were either color blocked or tribal (or both), high slits, exposed panels, lots of beanies and really fun music. There were also a lot of dresses worn over pants!

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Lacoste:

Lacoste's collection was very futuristic, with exaggerated silhouettes and pops of bright orange and green. The collection was quite casual (as is the brand) and mostly very wearable. I'm obsessed with the look above, doesn't that look like just the chicest sweatshirt ever?

Mara Hoffman:
Mara Hoffman's show included everything you'd expect to see, done beautifully. There were vivid, graphic prints, fun dresses, and cozy knit sweaters and outerwear. I loved almost every single dress that came down the runway, but the one above really caught my eye. Isn't it amazing?

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Herve Leger:
Herve Leger featured lots of dark, rich colors and intricate embellishment, topped off with leather baseball caps. There were plenty of gorgeous body-con looks, and not a bandage dress in sight. Lots of dresses over pants here, too.

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Son Jung Wan:
The Son Jung Wan collection was gorgeous. There were classic silhouettes (sheath dresses, turtlenecks, coats) done with beautiful fabrics and finished with furs and intricate detailing. Don't you feel like you just need that sequin and fur jacket, above?

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Trina Turk:

Trina's 'California Modern' collection really surprised me. The designer is known for her 60's style patterns and prints and vibrant colors, but this presentation was very tailored and chic, with plenty of jewel tones, luxe fabrics, fitted pantsuits and almost every look topped off with a hat. I overheard her saying that she was trying to show a more sophisticated California girl...she definitely succeeded!

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Nicholas K:
Nicholas K showed the ultimate in casual chic, with lots of layering and cozy fabrics and fur, all done in a very wearable muted color palette. The looks were completed with futuristic goggles which was a nod to the collection's muse, a Danish explorer. Not sure if they actually want us to wear that or not, but it looked very cool on the runway!

Lela Rose:
Every look in the Lela Rose collection was gorgeous, but what really stood out to me was the array of stunning cocktail dresses (I think I'm going to have to stop eating so I can save and afford the white one above). There were also printed pant and skirt suits done in burnt orange and emerald that would make a work day a lot more fun.
