A Day in Marina Del Rey

Over Saturday I met up with my mom, my sister, and her two kids by the marina. We went to the farmer's market in Playa Vista (a little neighborhood / development which I am now obsessed with - I may or may not have started trolling realtor.com for my future house) and then went to Mariner's Village in Marina Del Rey where we took the kids on a water bus.

Greige

This is an outfit that I wore to work the other day (well, mostly - I added the crazy high heels once I got home). I found these old H&M pants in the bottom of my cupboard and decided I may as well give them a try, and it turned into a sort of monochromatic look, with just a little bit of colour courtesy of the necklace.

We took these pics on the way to the grocery store, which was the very glamorous start to our Friday night.

Gap blazer, H & M pants, J Crew belt, Banana Republic tank top, Prada bag, Louboutin heels, Pretty bracelet that a friend got me in Italy

Wine Tasting/Outfit Post

Happy Friday! This was a busy week for me, what about you guys? As some of you know, I was in British Columbia last weekend for a wedding and to visit some friends. I had such a fun time and will hopefully post some weddings pics (I just want to ask the bride first!), but here are some pictures from wine tasting that we did in Kelowna, my beautiful hometown.

We didn't have a ton of time so we only visited two wineries, Summerhill and Cedar Creek, though Kelowna and the surrounding area have a ton of them.

Betcha didn't know that Canada had an amazing wine country!

SO BEAUTIFUL.

where the magic happens.

And a close up of my outfit - I looove this dress, it's super versatile and can be easy dressed up or down. It's from J Crew and still available here. I kept my outfit pretty simple with a braided belt, also from J Crew (this one is similar), a bright cuff from Bauble Bar and flat gold sandals (which you can't see..sorry!). I also carried my giant wallet around as a bit of a clutch, though it wasn't meant to be any sort of fashion statement - my bag was just too heavy and clunky so I left it in the car.

London Fever

With the Olympics almost upon us, I have major London fever. I am not so secretly obsessed with London - I'm convinced that I would be very happy living there, and kind of think that I will one day.

I've been a few times over the years (the first time was when I was 11; my family went for nearly a month and rented a cute little house in the country but all I wanted to do was go into the city to Virgin records to buy Spice Girls CD's and to search for those amazing sky high white platforms that Baby Spice used to wear) but it's been a while now and I am yearning to go back.

For now, here's a compilation of London inspired home decor, sites, and of course, Will & Kate.

Hollywood Bowl

A few weekends ago, we went to the Hollywood Bowl. I am obsessed with the Hollywood Bowl and will see anything there - so I booked us tickets to see a Ziggy Marley/reggae concert. My boyfriend sort of thought I was kidding (neither of us are exactly major reggae fans), but in the end the music was great and we had so much fun.

My favorite thing about the Hollywood Bowl is that you're allowed (and encouraged, even) to bring a big picnic, wine included. I recently bought a vintage picnic basket from Wertz Brother's and I was happy for the chance to use it!

Have you guys been? Do you love the Hollywood Bowl as much as I do? Also...do you have any parking tips? We parked in the wrong lot and ended up in stacked parking and stuck for quite a long time!

Out on the town

Happy Tuesday!

For me, it's basically the weekend - I am heading back to Canada tomorrow for my best friend's wedding!! I've known her since we were 8 years old, and I just cannot wait, though I am pretty nervous about my Maid of Honor speech - if you guys have any tips I would love to hear them.

Above (and below) is an outfit that I wore out for dinner and drinks a few weekends ago. I love the bright colors of this dress, and the fact that the faux wrap design and tulip hem (which actually I realize you can't really see in these pics...oops!) keep it from being just another patterned dress. I paired it with my favorite beige booties, a hot pink oversized clutch, and a pink and white necklace (which you also can't really see...I will get better at this I promise):

The dress is from a random little shop on Main Street in Santa Monica, the booties are ASOS (these are similar), the clutch I have no recollection (maybe Winner's in Canada?) and the necklace is Forever 21.

Magnolia Bakery

yum.
Magnolia Bakery (the amazing NY based cupcake shop of Sex and the City fame) opened a location in LA nearly two years ago, but I only just had the chance to check it out.

I'm pretty into cupcakes (but who isn't? If you don't like cupcakes, you're not a friend of mine and also probably lying to yourself) and had been meaning to check out this new-ish location for quite some time so when my boyfriend and I  found ourselves on West 3rd Street the other day, it was pretty obvious that we had to get a little something despite having just eaten a giant brunch.

The shop is larger than a lot of the cupcake shops/bakeries in LA, and the cupcakes are just as good and definitely worth derailing your healthy eating plan for the day - there is plenty of seating as well which is nice.

Do yourself a favour and stop in next time you find yourself in that area, I promise you'll be happy that you did!

Just chilling on the roof...

This is an outfit that I wore to work the other day - my office is super casual so I'm able to get away with stuff like this! I was a little unsure about shorts with wedges, but I figured that if I added a structured, Chanel-esque jacket on top that it made it that much more appropriate.

Isn't the light pretty? That's my rooftop at sunset which actually has quite a nice view...sadly, a lot nicer than our patio's view which stares directly at a Von's grocery store. You can't win them all.

Tory Burch wedges, J Crew shorts (they are the only ones I like - I have  them in navy as well. Buying shorts kind of sucks) and tank top, Zara jacket (on sale now!) and a random assortment of bangles
