Haus Interiors

image via popsugar
Haus Interiors, the NYC based interior design store/firm has opened up shop here in Los Angeles - conveniently located close to one of my favorite restaurants, Joans on Third.

Haus Interiors carries an eclectic collection of furniture/kitchenware and really great accessories, many of which are available online. I haven't had a chance to check out the shop but having been oohing and aahing over the website and plan to head over to see the shop for myself soon!

Check out some of my favorite items below:
I want this horse head in my life SO badly. How cool is it?

These would be so pretty in the summer on your patio.

I  love everything about this lamp.

Tartan dessert plates!

I love this Hudsons Bay Company/Pendleton blanket. I got one for my birthday last year and think it's so classic looking.

They have hilarious note cards...if you can't read this it says 'Dear Noah, we could have sworn the ark wasn't leaving til 5. Sincerely, The Unicorns'

New Years Eve Dresses

Good morning! I hope you all had a very relaxing and nice holiday weekend. My weekend was perfect - a few great dinners, Christmas Eve church service, gifts and lots of family time - my baby niece and nephew were so cute on Christmas morning in their little matching pj's.

But now that Christmas is over, it's on to the next holiday - New Years! New Years Eve is the perfect occasion to wear a sparkly, tiny bit over the top dress, no matter what your plan is - though, I've found that New Years is best left not meticulously planned, as it rarely works out exactly as hoped.

Anyway, check out some of my dream NYE dresses below, and let me know which are your favorites and what you plan to wear!

The Office

One of my New Years resolutions is to be more organized at work. Now, I wish that I had one of those picture perfect home offices with a lucite chair, organized hardcover reference books and fresh flowers that are often floating around the blogosphere, but alas...I don't. I have a small area at work, and at home my laptop sits on the kitchen table or my bed.

While I was pondering exactly how to create a more pretty way to keep my stuff organized in an aesthetically pleasing way, I came across some great sites offering cute and functional office accessories that will definitely kick your cubicle up a notch!

Check out some of my favorites:

All items are from seejanework.com, sortingwithstyle.com and zazzle.com (for the cool monogram mousepad which I am 100% buying).

What do you guys think? Do you have any tips for staying organized? I would love to hear them!

Milo and Olive

From the brains behind delicious and inventive 'farm to table' style LA restaurants (and personal favorites!) Huckleberry, Rustic Canyon and Sweet Rose Creamery comes the recently opened pizzeria and bakery Milo and Olive.

We had breakfast at Milo and Olive a few weeks ago, and I ordered the House Made Muesli with mixed grains, apples, bananas, almonds, dates, raisins and yogurt, and tried a bite of my boyfriends' Baked Farm Eggs with roasted tomato sauce, potatos, stewed onions, braised greens and Parmigiano. We also split a Maple Walnut Sticky Bun on the way out - if you saw the display case, you wouldn't be able to stop yourself either.

Next time I definitely want to come for dinner to try one of their delish sounding pizzas that come out of their woodfire oven - and then I'll report back ;)

Everything I tried was super fresh and amazing, and I very much recommend trying out Milo and Olive when you get a chance. Just be sure to come early, as the restaurant is very tiny and very busy.

Holiday Party Outfit

sequin top:
shoes:
tory clutch
bauble bar necklace

My version:

Happy Monday! This is an outfit that I wore over the weekend - I had a holiday dinner for work, a later Christmas dinner party at a friends house, and then a White Elephant party...all in one night. Have you guys been having crazy nights like that too?

I wanted to wear something festive but not too "party-ish" since the three events were so different, so I decided on a sparkly top and black jersy pencil skirt (it's so comfy, it's almost like wearing sweatpants) and paired that with nude heels, a black clutch and a colorful multi strand necklace.

Check out the items above to get a similar look, and click here to see my last holiday party outfit post.

Drunken Udder Ice Cream

A few weeks ago I tasted the best  thing ever a party, and I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys about this until now. The thing I tried was spiked ice cream by Drunken Udder. Can you think of anything better? I doubt it.

Drunken Udder has tons of really amazing alcohol infused flavors such as Bourbon Salted Caramel, Tequila Lime Sorbet, Carmelized White Chocolate Godiva and Rum Roasted Banana...to name a few. This stuff is seriously good, and would be perfect for a dinner party - or just anytime, actually ; )

They deliver in the LA area, so check them out here.

Have you heard of anything like this before?

What to do in Los Angeles at Christmas

Christmas is definitely my favorite time of the year, and when I moved to LA I worried that it wouldn't be very 'Christmasy' here with the lack of snow and cold weather to bundle up for, but I have been pleasantly surprised to find that there actually is quite a bit of holiday stuff to do and see.

Below are some of my favorites:

The Grove becomes a Christmas wonderland during the holidays - complete with tons of lights, Santa, Christmas music on the loud speakers and fake snow!

Ice at Santa Monica is a great outdoor skating rink in the heart of Santa Monica. They offer skate rentals and hot chocolate.

Grinchmas at Universal Studios. This one I've never actually been to but would love to check it out, it looks so fun.
The Malibu Country Mart gets decked out for the holidays, and even has live reindeer on Saturdays this month.

Seeing the Nutcracker is one of my favorite holiday traditions - my whole family is going this weekend and I can't wait! There are a few shows around the city, you can still Google it to find tickets.

Ice skating at the W Hotel in Westwood. I actually just blogged about this here. It's fun to get a (spiked or not) holiday drink, rent skates and lounge in the beautiful Z Gallerie cabanas.

Cookie Exchange

Over the weekend my friend Jenn and I hosted (well...she basically hosted, but I brought drinks!) a cookie exchange for some of our girlfriends.

Everyone brought two dozen homemade cookies which we sampled and then packed up a little bag of assorted cookies to take with us. This is such a fun way to try everyones different Christmas recipes, and it's a great reason to get together for a few hours during the busy holiday season. We made an event of it and had brunch and drinks as well.

Have you hosted or been to a cookie exchange?

Some of the great types of cookies!

We made a mimosa bar with a choice of cranberry/pomegranate or orange juice. we also made little swizzle sticks with frozen cranberries and mint.

Jenn's gorgeous table. She put everying in pretty silver serving platters and bowls, so even chips and crackers look nice!

Gifts That Give Back - Under $50!

In honor of it being the 1st day of December (which I am having a hard time believing..is it just me or has this felt like the fastest year ever?) I figured I would put together a little gift guide - but not just any gift guide.
