Dukes Malibu

On our way to the beach the other day we stopped for lunch at Duke's, the Hawaiian influenced beachside restaurant dedicated to legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku.

Duke's is known for serving fresh island inspired food (think coconut shrimp, Maui onion soup, Mahi Mahi sandwich) and strong drinks including their famous Mai Tai. Duke's is a great, casual spot for brunch or dinner and they also have a pretty fun atmosphere at night.

If you're ever in the Malibu area this is a cool place to check out (maybe for Aloha hour on Monday or Tuesday), and there are also a few other locations scattered throughout the country. I went to one of the originals in Hawaii a year ago which was quite cool!

Now I really want a fish taco after writing about this and checking out their website...

Donna Hay

A few weeks ago I called my mom and said something along the lines of 'I'm 24 and I need to learn to cook, mom...help!'; a few days later, an Amazon box containing Donna Hay cookbooks arrived at my door!

My mom is an amazing cook, (I know everyone thinks their mother is a great cook, but mine honestly is) but since she lives in another country I guess she decided that this was the next best thing - and I have now become a diehard Donna Hay fan. I hadn't even heard of the woman before my mom sent me the books, but I now spend hours checking our her website and dissecting my shiny new cookbooks!

If you haven't hear of Donna Hay or checked out her website, do it now - she offers fantastic recipes, - including a feature called 'What's In Your Cupboard' which finds yummy recipes based on the random items you happen to find in your kitchen, which is genius - decor ideas, and even an affordable online shop with perfect gifts and kitchen items.

Check out her website here!
