Music Box Hollywood

I love going to see live music, and was so excited to see a recent concert at the Music Box in Hollywood.

This old theater (formerly called many other names but most famously the Henry Fonda Theater) dates back to 1926 and recently underwent a renovation to bring it back to its roots; the Music Box is now fully restored and reminiscent of its glamorous old Hollywood days.

The sound was great, the venue was a good size, and the decor was beautiful. I hope to go back soon for another concert!

Hunter Boots

It has been raining in LA and I am kicking myself for not owning a pair of rain boots, or really any weather-appropriate footwear at all for that matter.

Hunter's original Wellington boots are still their most popular boot but they have also introduced many other styles and colors which actually make rain boots look sort of...stylish. I quite like the green wedge heeled boot with buckled straps!

I like Hunter's different styles of boot, but for now I think the next thing I buy might be some tried and true original black wellies.

Ivy at the Shore

I recently had brunch at the Ivy at the Shore, and loved it.

I've eaten at The Ivy on Robertson quite a few times (and wrote about it here) but for some reason had never been to the Santa Monica location. The food was delicious as always (we had lobster pizza and shared my favorites, crab cakes and the chopped salad) and the restaurant was so charming with its light pink walls, mismatched floral china and overall retro Hawaiian style.

The Ivy at the Shore is more laid back than the other Los Angeles location, and the Ocean Avenue view can't be beat. This location is definitely my new go to brunch spot, and it's only partially because the gimlet's are so amazing.

Paradise Cove

The weather is getting warmer in LA and that means beach season is near! I am hoping to head to Paradise Cove, one of my favourite spots in Malibu one of these next few weekends.

Paradise Cove is a gorgeous private beach with chairs and cabanas to rent as well as plenty of space to spread out your own towel. The Beach Cafe serves great seafood and more, and I especially love to sit at their outside bar area with a summery cocktail (their mojito is awesome as is the Malibu Mai Tai).

They also offer take out food from "Paradise to Go" which you can take on the beach for a picnic. It can get super crowded so get there early for a good spot!

Grace Home Furnishings

Grace Home Furnishings, located in Brentwood Village, has the most elegant, gorgeous furniture.

When I walk into the store I literally want everything, and believe that my life would be better (or at least more well decorated) if only I owned the amazing green floral upholstered print seat with white lacquer or mirrored nightstand with hand beveled mirror and ash wood base! These things and more are available on their website gracehomefurnishings.com

I especially love Grace Home's fantastic advertisements; everything looks luxe and beautifully styled, but never over the top. I love their uses of muted tones with bold accents, and am obsessed with the turqoise walls in the first ad - I insisted that my mum paint my bedrooms walls turqoise when I was about 14...but somehow they didn't look as chic as with my movie posters and magazine ad cut outs plastered on them. Hmm.

I could move into any of the rooms in their ads and find myself very happy. It could also be that I just really want that dog!

Cleo

Last weekend I went to Cleo, the new SBE restaurant in the Redbury Hotel in Hollywood.

Most of the menu is Middle Eastern inspired small plates meant to be shared, and everything we ordered was amazing. My favourites were the beef cheek tagine (which to me sounded...well, disgusting but was SO good) the crispy brussel sprouts with capers and almonds, and the very garlicy, very delicious babaganoush.

The restaurant is beautiful yet inviting with gorgeous decor (fantasic light green tufted chairs, pretty chandeliers, light wood) juxtaposed against the exposed, industrial looking ceiling for a modern yet classic look.

I loved this restaurant and will definitely be back!
